What Are The Top Japanese Banks
Japan is the third leading financial country of the world, and therefore has an economy to be proud of. The bank system in Japan is classified into different sectors, where every sector is following its specific strategy and work module. The first and foremost is the Central Bank, also known as Bank of Japan. After the Central Bank, there are three Japanese megabanks, and finally money center banks. Megabanks have their subsidiaries in the form of online banks and also have functionalities that cater to the country's need of internet banking. And finally we have regional banks for the various regions of Japan. Let's take a brief look at each of the banks.
 Japan's largest bank, known as Nichigin in Japanese is located in Chuo, Tokyo. The history of the bank goes back to the Meiji Restoration, which saw the establishment of the "Yen" as the new currency, with the bank being operational for the first time in 1882, and now 128 years later, it is still one of the strongest platforms of the Japanese economy. It was in 1942 that the bank underwent a re-establishment; however it was banned from being operational in the post war period. However, it soon regained its operations in 1949 and now it is one of the most influential institutions of Japanese economy.
 Big Banks
 Mizuho Financial Group, the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and the Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group are known as megabanks of Japan. Mizuho bank has a number of branches and combined assets are estimated to be US dollars $1.44 trillion. This number of assets, makes it the third most profitable bank of Japan, and the ninth leading market capitalization, globally. With this status, it also hires 68,000 people from 30 countries worldwide and is currently listed as the 59th largest financial hub.
 The Mitsubishi, a banking group of Mitsubishi industries takes the lead over Mizuho, with an asset count of US$2.4 trillion. Because it is from the Mitsubishi industry, it receives phenomenal response globally. Not only this, it is ranked as the second largest banking sector worldwide.
Sumitomo Mitsui Financial group holds an asset amount of US$1.3 trillion and therefore, is the second leading bank of Japan. It was founded just recently in 2002, but has secured top 3rd position within just a time frame of 8 years; boasting 21,816 employees.
 Major Bank Centers
 Money center banks are Resona Holdings, Sumito Trust and Mitsui Trust Holdings, all having a top count on the top 10 banking list of Japan .
 Online Banks
 Banks such as Sumitomo, Sony Financial holdings, 7-Eleven Holdings have their subsidiaries in the form of online banks. The main purpose of online banking is to help people with banking through the effective use of internet, as everything now relating to finance and transactions, largely depends on the internet world.
 Regional Banks
 Regional banks are to help people, who are not able to access urban banking. Out of these Aichi Bank, Akita Bank and Aomori Bank secures the top positions.
