Critical Peculiarities of Large Floor Vases That Make Them Wonderful Accent Pieces

For some very good reasons a large floor vase is exceptionally suited to become an accent piece on any floor. First of all, most such floor vases were really made to stand on floors and for this purpose are free of structural parts that can be accidentally grazed. Secondly, the base portion of vases is wider. This gives them more stability. Thirdly, their glazes, being spread over a wider area are more attractive and captivating. In other words, these vases have all the functionality and appeal that a good piece of floor décor should have.

The parts of large floor vases

Traditionally, the majority of large floor vases consisted simply of the base and the body. The other parts, such as the pedestal below the base and the other type of pedestal below the body itself were omitted. The neck, if present was short and wide. Handles were typically absent from them too. The mouth was a simple rim that was not embellished. In short, the ancients purposely constructed them to stay standing where they were originally positioned. This standard way of making these vases is still followed today. The base of large floor vases is not much narrower than the diameter of the body. As already mentioned, structures intervening between the body and the base are often omitted. If present, they are typically short and wide. No supporting structure, whether the base itself or the pedestal below the body is made in such a way as to make keeling over easy. Small mouths are encountered in the vases that are not very large. Otherwise, they are almost as wide as the top of the body itself. The reason for this peculiarity is so that inserting large stones and other heavy objects to add weight to the vase is easier with large mouths. The additional weight makes these vases more firm.

The attractiveness of large floor vases

By the very fact that they are broad and tall at the same time, large vases are eye-catchers anytime. That is also the reason why tastefully done vases are seldom brightly colored or embellished with intricate figures and patterns. The use of brilliant colors on such large pieces of décor will make them too overwhelming. Along this line, the color that is used for these vases is usually of a conservative shade. Of course, Imperial pieces are an exception to that rule.

The most suitable floor décor is a large floor vase because it usually has the bare minimum of structural parts. This reduces the chance of accidents. Their shapes are also ideally suited for keeping them stable on the floor. As a consequence of their size, any colors and textures they have are more likely to complement the room. They therefore make perfect accent pieces.
