Has anyone ever traded in a gun at Cabelas?
I have a World War 2 Femaru 37M .380 pistol. it is in superb condtion. i bought it from a friend for $200 but the ammo is pretty expensive and its not really a gun to go shooting with. its more of an antique now. heres the thing.. if the serial number was looked up i have no clue whose name it would be in. is this going to be a problem when i go to cabelas to try to trade it in? do they even look up the serial number? is it going to come up as stolen if they do? i think its worth about 400 bucks. im trying to trade it in for 300 to buy a Walther P22 or a Sig Mosquito.. thanks
heres the thing.. i bought it from my friend for $200 which was basically a steal. i looked on gunbroker and they are going for 300-600 depending on the condition. its worth way more than 200
John G, I'll address the first part of your question, yes I have done some trading at a Cabelas and I will not do it again. I've been around firearms as long as I can remember, serviced and repaired thousands, bought, traded, and sold at least a thousand, been to gun shows, weapons expo's, shot shows, manufactures classes and tours, and I have about 20 shops, stores, and pawn shops that call me on a regular bases for repair, appraisals, or wanting to sell me a deal. If you want to get ripped off go to your local Cabelas, they are in my opinion experts at low balling and ripping customers off when it comes to trade ins or purchasing used firearms.
Get a cost for your pistol, put it up for sale in a classified ad, gunbroker, or take it to a gun show, you'll get more that way than taking it to the clowns at Cabelas.
