What is the difference between "Standard flat top" or "Carve top" or "Archtop" or "Semi-hollow Archtop"?
Do you have illustrations on how they differ...
The term arch top is used to describe a guitar which has a profile somewhat akin to that of a violin, viola, cello or double bass, in other words not flat. Although archtop is some times used about solid wood electric guitars (such as a Gibson Les Paul), it is mostly used on instruments of acoustic or semi-acoustic character, such as those we normally will consider being "jazz" guitars.

The arch top can be made by either laminating wood and gluing/heat pressing the veneers/laminates together in a form: http://www.pacinfo.com/~sholst/lamintroduction.htm - or, using solid wood and carving the top (like you do on a real violin). Hence the term carved top.
The term semi-hollow refers to above type of guitars (almost exclusively with laminated tops) which has either a mid-block running along the length of the guitar - kind of like a neck-through design ... or which may be solid wood originally, but with sufficient hollow chambers to give it acoustic properties un-amplified.

All other guitars - which doesn't have these arch tops - are considered flat tops. But again, it is commonly used on acoustic instruments. After all, most electric guitars have a flat top...
