Lions And Tigers And A Car Crash; Oh My!
Pet insurance is definitely a must for the responsible pet owner. The less serious situations pets get themselves into can be very amusing, however; it makes small business insurance seem trivial in comparison.
Swerving to miss animals is the alleged cause of a variety of incidents. While most of us in more urban areas will probably immediately think of dogs, cats and perhaps foxes, there's a whole menagerie of other, apparently equally thrill seeking creatures lurking out there. Cows are often blamed for accidents that occur on country roads. These bovine beasts don't seem to care about road safety when they cross, often simply stopping in the middle of the road for no apparent reason. One insurance claim form detailed the following: "Q: What warning was given by you? A: Horn. Q: And the other party? A: Moo." However, sometimes it seems that cows are only trying to help. A person who was thrown from their car following an accident once claimed to have been discovered by some overly friendly cows before anyone else. Where were the emergency services then? I wonder how much multi van insurance money has been paid out for cow-related incidents...
In some incidents the animals seem to come off rather worse for wear. While the following claim information was simply poorly worded (one can hope that this was the case, anyway), one can't help but feel sorry for the poor pet involved: "I pulled in to the side of the road because there was smoke coming from under the hood. I realised there was a fire in the engine, so I took my dog and smothered it with a blanket." Some animals do come out on top, though, as evidenced by the latter: "In an attempt to kill a fly, I drove into a telephone pole." Hopefully the fly lived to trouble restaurant insurance companies another day!
However, the award for the best animal-related incident clearly goes to the following: "I saw two kangaroos having it off in the middle of the road. So I hit them, which caused me to spurt through the sunroof."
