What is this Tibetan necklace called?
Several years ago I went on a trip to Tibet with a student group. We visited Jokhang temple in Lhasa and got to speak with one of the monks there. Afterward, everyone in our group received a small square necklace/pendant which we were told was a piece of paper with tibetan buddhist scripture that was folded up and covered with differently colored strings woven into a pattern over the paper that hung from another string that was passed through the paper at the top edge.
I saw the things all over the place while I was there in various shops around the monastery, so I figured they must be fairly common. However I can't seem to locate a name for these things or a picture of one anywhere online. Can anyone help?
After I posted this question I managed to find this picture, but it didn't have an actual name attached, it was just described as a "mantra pendant"

Also, mine does not have the casing around it.
It sounds like a Tibetan Gao (prayer box pendant).
