are there ways I can "color" air-dry clay without paint?
Okay, so i bought a lb of air dry clay to make pendants and I don't have paint, so I'm wondering if i can somehow use what i have on hand (colored pencils, markers, mod podge) to achieve the same effect as paint - i'm shooting for an "antiqued" look, so im thinking of using gold colored pencils and some dark marker and then using modpodge to mix the colors around while the marker ink is still wet... does anyone know if this would work? Or is there some thing else i can do besides using paint?
The biggest problem is you are planning to use air dry clay for jewelery
This is a realistic comment definitely not what you want.
I want you to avoid problems
Air dry clay is very week and breaks easily
I know people that make jewelery in fired ceramic clay - I made a few pieces myself
If you don't have access to a ceramic kiln - making pieces in polymer clay would be a more durable solution
Polymer clay can be baked in an oven -
I take an electric roaster outside to bake the clay - I have allergies and don't want to breath the fumes
