While many of us slap on wigs and litres of anti-aging cream or get facelifts and Botox, there are a lot of reasons why getting older should be something you look forward too. Growing old is of course a bit scary because it is basically a countdown to imminent death, but that aside, it can be quite a lot of fun.
What's more, the UK population is aging. This means that the average of age of people in the UK is getting rapidly older and soon a very large proportion will be technically classed as: old. This means there is all the more reason why every opportunity should be taken to look forward to this age and all the benefits it brings.
Free Bus Pass
As long as the government doesn't scrap this too, when UK citizens reach a certain age they are issued with a free bus pass. This allows them to ride around on as many buses as they want for as long as they want. An enviable thing for most people as travel prices rise everywhere. When you get your bus pass you can look forward to being able to stop worrying about having the right change or paying to go and visit your friends. You just need to stop the bus and get on.
Senior Discounts
As well as a free bus pass you can also get discounts on tons of great attractions, museums and other modes of transport. You can start to look out for all those price lists and see the section marked 'senior discount' or 'OAP discount' and feel happy that soon your years of living have finally paid off when you can pay a few pounds less compared to everyone else.
Home Improvements
Another exciting thing you can do is to start adapting you home to make it easier for you to get around as your body starts to crumble. While there are stair lifts and bathroom handles you can get, the most exciting thing you can install are home lifts. These through floor lifts can be fitted in any home with more than one floor and let you swoop up and down from floor to floor without having to move more than your finger.
Retirement
Above all the most exciting part of getting old is retirement. Not having to go to work again ever is a delightful prospect for most, if not all older people in the world.
