I may wear this genuine antique Japanese ceremonial costume from the Edo period (1603-1868) when I practice with katana and wakazashi or just attend Japantown festivals. The blue Edo komon set cost $3000 some years ago. Under it, I wear kuro montsuki (black formal) kimono and keku obi (stiff waist sash). On my feet are white tabi and zori. Bushi warriors wore such clothing for the most formal occasions. I own 3 of them. My Japanese gal Miyuki is amazed that I know so much about her land and have modern and antique clothing from Japan.
