The Teenage Years In Swing Mode

A languid afternoon may be well spent with a dreadnought acoustic guitar in hand and a few old songbooks. Feeling something in between not quiet bored and nearly there can be moved through with relative ease if genuine interests are pursued. There are a lot of days in the period amid the ages of 13 - 19.

Puberty can be a horrible time of feeling like you don't belong, an alienation of spirit. Staying positive needs a little attention to the details of one's life. Catching a few moments of graphic lcd, twittering for a few more and lying on your bed dreaming at the ceiling of what tomorrow brings takes up time, but is not always totally engrossing.

Over the past decade has seen a variety of new cartoon characters like Spongebob Squarepants and Catdog. Japan has come into it's prime with numerous very successful Anime cartoons. These hold favor way passed the teenage years and are fantastic for learning how to relate between the sexes. Older teens move on to erotic comics and tend to keep these to themselves.

Collectibles are fun to buy and can be worth something in later years. Shopping for the latest in mod apparel and getting the hair-do most resembling the hair-don't is all part of learning individualism and standing up for oneself. Acceptance of each other is a start to acceptance of self and of the world.

Teens will take up responsibility when they are encouraged to do so, or when they feel they are ready for it. Learning their own mind from that of their friends may take a little longer to achieve as it is easier to hide behind others or wear a mask that is the same as the people around them. This will have to be initiated by themselves as Independence cannot be forced.

Learning who they are from the viewpoints of self identity or ego, creativity, ability to communicate with others and respect for self and others, are some of the challenges they face. Advice is encouraged to be given by parents and guardians mostly when it is asked for. Adults must be very discerning to know when to offer advice and when to just listen and get them to do all the talking.

Keeping an eye on behaviour which is unusual or seemingly morbid is a good idea. A lot of teen go through a dark period before emerging as a totally strong individual who is self directed and free of childhood bonds. It is vital that they are given all the help they need during that time.

Giving all the opportunity to them to be involved in life and all it has to offer is something that needs to be well organized and made available to them. Letting them make their own choices will aid their maturity. Life does not have to be all difficult during these years.
